Vintage Hopi Darin Calnimptewa, LEFT HANDED HUNTER 14 Kachina Doll c80s SIGNED. For your consideration is this wonderful rendition of the Left Handed Hunter kachina doll by Third Mesa Hopi master carver Darin Calnimptewa, circa 1980s era. This gorgeous kachina doll was hand carved out of top grade cottonwood and hand painted with dyes made from natural materials off the reservation.
This supernatural appears in many of the dances and as the name suggests, he performs his tasks in reverse. His black case mask is traditionally painted with diamond shaped eyes, a fearsome looking mouth and striped bands on one arm and leg. Other details include red paddle ears with feather accent, a decorated kilt, a turtle shell on the back of his leg and a "buckskin" cape. He carries a bow and a throwing stick. About 14" tall (including base) x 6" wide. In very good condition, it's signed under the base.Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
