Vintage 70s Hopi Arthur Holmes Sr 18 White Bear Kachina Doll Native Made in USA. This is a magnificent and important vintage 1970s Hopi carved White Bear Kachina doll by famous Hopi master carver Arthur Holmes Sr. This sensational Hopi Powerful Healer White Bear (Hon) Katsina Doll was hand carved from premium grade cottonroot and hand painted with dyes from natural vegetation. The details and expression are simply amazing!

This fabulous work of art stands 18 tall on an arrow shaped base. It is unsigned but confirmed to be by Arthur Holmes Sr by his son Arthur Holmes Jr. This is a fabulous representation of the bear katsina with his leather cape and trim.

You can feel the power of this Katsina as he dances on his arrowhead-shaped base. A great older piece by a great Hopi carver. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The Bear Katsina (Hon) is frequently distinguished only by color, such as white, black, blue or yellow. All Bear Katsinam are believed to be very powerful and capable of curing illness. They are also considered great leaders and warriors.
